Note:Constructed of white granite from Westerly, RI. 22' square at base and 44'7" h from fndtn to top of statue.Statue itself is 21'6" h figure of soldier w/rifle.Base reads "NOT FOR THEMSELVES/BUT/FOR THEIR COUNTRY". Replace mortar.
Note:Built between 1871 and 1873; sculpted by James W. Pollette. Shown at Philadelphia Centennial Expo in 1876; base created by Cemetery Association in 1879; monument installed and dedicated in 1880
