Summary:
Private Wright of Co. B, 8th Florida Regiment, Confederate writes to his wife to describe a gunshot wound he received in a fight near Sharpsburg, Washington County, Maryland. He asks for her or his brother to come see him and give instructions for how to get there. According to the published roster, Pvt. Bird's wound was mortal.
