Summary:The Fire Management Plan (FMP) is an addendum to Buffalo National River's Resource Management Plan. This plan outlines a detailed program of actions to be taken by Buffalo National River to meet the fire management goals for the area. The plan is also guided by Director's Order-18 (DO-18) (http://www.nifc.nps.gov/fire/policy/do18/do18.htm) which requires that all park units with vegetation capable of sustaining fire develop a FMP. Until a FMP is approved, the Park will aggressively suppress all wildland fires, taking into account the safety of firefighting personnel, the visiting public and protection of all resources at risk on the unit.
